G.E.M.A. Mass and Fellowship 2026

Media and communications practitioners from across the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur gathered at the Church of St. Anthony, Kuala Lumpur, for the inaugural G.E.M.A. Mass and Fellowship, held in conjunction with the 60th World Day of Social Communications.

The gathering brought together more than 80 participants involved in parish social communications ministries, media, public relations, journalism, digital communications, and content creation. It provided a valuable opportunity for fellowship, networking, and the strengthening of relationships among those engaged in the Church’s mission of communication.

The event commenced with Holy Mass celebrated by His Grace Archbishop Julian Leow. In his reflections, the Archbishop highlighted the importance of truth, integrity, and authentic human communication in an increasingly digital world. He encouraged Catholic communicators to remain faithful witnesses to the Gospel and to use modern communication tools responsibly, particularly in an age where artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly prevalent.

Participants also received a video message from Fr. Dr. Clarence Devadass, Ecclesiastical Assistant to the Archdiocesan Social Communications Ministry, who welcomed those present and reflected on the significance of this year’s World Day of Social Communications.

Following the Mass, participants gathered for fellowship and networking, fostering greater collaboration among media and communications practitioners serving throughout the Archdiocese.

As communicators entrusted with sharing the Good News, may we continue to use our gifts and talents to build communion, promote truth, and bring the message of Christ to the wider community.

World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests | OLF

Each year, on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Church observes the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests, inviting the faithful to pray in a special way for those called to serve God’s people through the priesthood.

Priests carry the responsibility of proclaiming the Gospel, celebrating the Sacraments, shepherding communities, and accompanying the faithful through the joys and challenges of life. This special day reminds us that they, too, rely on the prayers and support of the faithful as they strive to live their vocation with holiness, fidelity, and generosity.

The Archdiocesan Prayer Ministry invites all parishioners to join in prayer for the clergy of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. Let us pray that our priests may be strengthened in their ministry, renewed in their love for Christ, and guided by the Sacred Heart of Jesus in all that they do.

Serving Our Neighbours on Wesak Day 🤝

In a spirit of service and neighbourly goodwill, volunteers from the Church of Our Lady of Fatima distributed 250 packets of vegetarian meals to pilgrims and visitors attending the Wesak Day celebrations at the Buddhist Maha Vihara, Brickfields.

Located in the heart of a vibrant and diverse community, our parish is blessed with opportunities to encounter people from different backgrounds, cultures, and faith traditions. Through simple acts of generosity and service, we seek to contribute towards greater understanding, harmony, and mutual respect among all people.

This outreach reflects the Church’s mission to serve others with compassion and to be a visible presence of Christ’s love within the wider community. Beyond the distribution of meals, it was an opportunity to foster friendship, build connections, and witness to the values of charity and solidarity.

We thank all volunteers who contributed their time and effort to make this initiative possible, and we pray that such gestures of goodwill may continue to strengthen the bonds that unite us as one human family.

Global Rosary for Peace

Responding to the Holy Father’s call to pray for peace, parishioners and friends gathered at the Church of Our Lady of Fatima for the Global Rosary for Peace, joining Catholics around the world in entrusting the needs of humanity to the loving intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The evening began with the ringing of the church bells, a solemn invitation to the faithful to unite in prayer for a world increasingly marked by conflict, division, and uncertainty. Through the praying of the Holy Rosary, participants offered their intentions for peace among nations, within communities, and in the hearts of all people.

Each Joyful Mystery was accompanied by a special prayer intention, inviting reflection on the many challenges facing our world today. During the prayer service, participants lit candles as a visible sign of hope, faith, and trust in God’s promise of peace.

As a parish community, we continue to seek Our Blessed Mother’s intercession, praying that hearts may be transformed, reconciliation may prevail, and Christ’s peace may reign in our world.

Spiritual Recollection for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

As the Church prepares to celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) of our parish gathered for a Spiritual Recollection centred on prayer, reflection, and Eucharistic devotion.

The recollection began with a period of Eucharistic Adoration, providing the ministers an opportunity to spend time in the presence of the Lord and deepen their appreciation for the sacred ministry entrusted to them. The burning of incense during the devotion served as a reminder of prayers rising to God.

Fr. Andrew Manickam led the ministers and parishioners in praying the Rosary with Eucharistic Meditation, followed by the Litany of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Together, the faithful reflected on the gift of the Eucharist and the call to discipleship.

In his homily, based on Mark 12:1–12, Fr. Andrew reminded those present that every disciple has been entrusted with a mission from God. Remaining focused on Christ enables us to persevere through life’s challenges, struggles, and uncertainties while remaining faithful to that mission.

Following the recollection, the ministers gathered in Dewan Fatima for fellowship, a brief meeting, and preparations for the upcoming Eucharistic Procession.

Let us continue to pray for our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion as they faithfully serve the parish community and bring the Body of Christ to the sick, elderly, and homebound.

Global Rosary for Peace with Pope Leo XIV 🙏

The Church of Our Lady of Fatima will join Catholics across the world in responding to Pope Leo XIV’s invitation to pray for peace through the Rosary.

This gathering offers the faithful an opportunity to unite spiritually with the universal Church in praying for an end to conflict, healing for those affected by war and violence, and a renewed commitment to peace among nations and peoples.

In a world often marked by division and uncertainty, prayer remains a powerful witness of faith, hope, and solidarity. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we entrust the needs of the world to God, asking for the gift of peace in our families, communities, and nations.

All are encouraged to participate in this special evening of prayer and Eucharistic devotion.

Ecological Educational Excursion 🌿

The Archdiocesan Creation Justice Ministry will be organising an educational excursion to the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB) as part of its continuing efforts to promote ecological awareness and environmental responsibility.

This visit aims to help participants better understand sustainability practices, environmental stewardship, and the wider role industries and communities play in caring for creation. Beyond learning about the timber industry, the excursion also invites participants to reflect on the relationship between faith, responsibility, and care for our common home.

Through initiatives such as these, the ministry hopes to encourage greater ecological consciousness and inspire practical action rooted in the spirit of Laudato Si’.
