Novena to Our Lady of Fatima 2026 — Day 6
“Mary — Model of Patience”
10 May 2026
The sixth day of the Novena to Our Lady of Fatima reflected on the theme “Mary, Model of Patience”, as parishioners gathered in prayer and thanksgiving during the Holy Mass offered for all present, their intentions, those serving in various Church ministries, and for all mothers.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Martin Arlando reflected on the patience of Our Blessed Mother — a patience rooted not in passive waiting, but in deep faith and trust in God. Mary’s life reminds the faithful that patience means continuing to trust even when the journey is long, the answers are delayed, and life is filled with uncertainty.
Fr. Martin highlighted how Mary accepted God’s will with a trusting “Yes” at the Annunciation, remained faithful through suffering, and stood steadfastly at the foot of the Cross. Her patience, born out of love and trust, became a witness of unwavering discipleship.
The congregation was reminded that many of God’s works unfold slowly and quietly, often through difficult moments, unanswered prayers, suffering, or seasons of waiting. Through Mary’s example, the faithful were encouraged to remain calm in moments of anger, persevere in prayer when answers seem delayed, and accompany those who are struggling instead of turning away from them.
Fr. Martin also encouraged the faithful to practise patience in daily life through simple but meaningful acts:
• Pause and pray before reacting
• Remain faithful in prayer even when God’s plans are unclear
• Walk patiently with those who are suffering
A special blessing was also given to all mothers present during the celebration.
The Church of Our Lady of Fatima warmly invites everyone to continue journeying together throughout the Novena and Feast Day celebrations.
