Perjalanan Salib – Day 3: Rooted in Christ, Bearing Fruit for His Kingdom

On the third day of the Perjalanan Salib, the parish united in prayer for the Diocese of Malacca-Johore, whose spiritual and communal goal is to foster a spirituality rooted in friendship, communion and discipleship.

The liturgy centred on God’s call to gather His people and lead them back to Himself. In the First Reading (Jeremiah 3:14–17), the Lord promises to appoint faithful shepherds to guide His flock with wisdom and understanding, while the Gospel (Matthew 13:18–23) explains the Parable of the Sower and the invitation to become good soil that bears lasting fruit.

In his homily, Fr. Michael Adawai reflected that although many believers gladly receive God’s Word, it can easily be choked by worldly anxieties, material pursuits, comfort and the distractions of modern life. He reminded the congregation that genuine discipleship is not measured by how well we understand or explain Scripture, but by the fruits it produces in our daily lives—love, humility, patience, compassion, understanding and forgiveness.

These reflections echoed the day’s prayer intention for the Diocese of Malacca-Johore, encouraging all the faithful to cultivate hearts that remain open to God’s Word and to live out the Gospel through authentic friendship, communion and discipleship.

The parish continues to entrust the Perjalanan Salib to the Lord, praying that this pilgrimage of faith will inspire renewal within every diocese and strengthen the Church throughout Malaysia.

Perjalanan Salib (Journey of the Cross) | Preparing for the Malaysia Pastoral Convention 2026

From 22 to 28 July 2026, the Church of Our Lady of Fatima will host the Perjalanan Salib (Journey of the Cross) as part of the nationwide pilgrimage leading to the Malaysia Pastoral Convention (MPC) 2026.

This 17-month pilgrimage, which began in April 2025, unites the nine dioceses and archdioceses of Malaysia in a common journey of prayer, reflection and communion. It forms part of the Church’s continuing commitment to strengthen unity and synodality under the theme “Celebrate, Listen, Walk as One Church.”

Throughout the week, our parish community will gather each day to pray for one of the dioceses or archdioceses of Malaysia while reflecting on the four pastoral priorities of the Convention:

  • Family
  • Church
  • Society
  • Ecology

In addition, we will lift up in prayer our families, parishioners, brothers and sisters who are ill, our senior citizens and the elderly, our Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs), those affected by ecological issues, and all who are poor and marginalised.

As we journey together towards the Malaysia Pastoral Convention 2026, may we become a Church that listens more attentively, walks more closely with one another, and bears joyful witness to Christ in our homes, our communities and our nation.

We warmly encourage all parishioners to participate throughout the week. Please refer to the accompanying posters for the daily programme and schedule.

Feast of St. Thomas Pilgrimage – Kuantan 2026

The Archdiocesan Prayer Ministry invites parishioners and friends to join a pilgrimage to the Church of St. Thomas, Kuantan, in celebration of the Feast of St. Thomas and the parish’s 120th anniversary.

Often remembered as “Doubting Thomas,” St. Thomas is more accurately remembered as a disciple whose sincere search for truth led him to one of the most profound professions of faith in the Gospel: “My Lord and my God!” Through his encounter with the Risen Christ, St. Thomas reminds us that authentic faith is not the absence of questions, but the willingness to seek Christ with an open heart.

This pilgrimage offers an opportunity for prayer, fellowship, and spiritual renewal as pilgrims gather to celebrate the life and witness of St. Thomas together with the faithful of Kuantan.

In this Jubilee Year of St. Francis of Assisi, may the example of St. Thomas encourage us to deepen our trust in the Lord and strengthen our commitment to living the Gospel each day.

Those interested in joining are invited to contact Marilyn at 017-328-6199 for further information and registration details.

Pilgrimage to the Church of the Holy Family, Kajang | 17 May 2026

A total of 59 pilgrims from the Church of Our Lady of Fatima journeyed to the Church of the Holy Family, Kajang, in conjunction with the Jubilee Year of the Holy Family.

The pilgrimage began with excitement and fellowship as pilgrims of all ages travelled together in prayer and joy. Upon arrival, the group was warmly welcomed by volunteers from the Church of the Holy Family before participating in the Pilgrimage Walk around the historic parish grounds.

Pilgrims reflected and prayed through the nine designated stations while learning about the rich history of the parish, which celebrates 125 years of existence, as well as the 25th anniversary of its Millennium church building. The group also visited an exhibition showcasing historical items, photographs, and memories from the parish’s long journey of faith.

A meaningful highlight of the pilgrimage was the veneration of the relics of Saints Louis and Zelie Martin, the patron saints of family life and parents of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. Gathering in prayer before the relics, pilgrims entrusted their families, marriages, and loved ones to the intercession of these holy saints.

The pilgrimage, organised by the OLF Family Life Ministry and accompanied by Fr. Andrew Manickam, became a grace-filled experience of prayer, fellowship, reflection, and renewal during this special Jubilee Year.
