Novena to Our Lady of Fatima 2026 — Day 8

“Mary — Model of Joy”

12 May 2026

On the eighth day of the Novena to Our Lady of Fatima, prayers during Holy Adoration and Holy Mass were offered for all clergy, religious, and for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Celebrating the Novena Mass, Rev. Fr. Michael Adawai reflected on the theme “Mary, Model of Joy,” reminding the faithful that true Christian joy is not dependent on comfort, success, or the absence of suffering, but is rooted in living faithfully in the presence and will of God.

Reflecting on Mary’s response during the Annunciation, Fr. Michael shared that joy is born when we surrender ourselves fully to God’s plan. In a world marked by uncertainty, fear, and suffering, Mary continues to show the faithful that peace and joy are found through trust, humility, prayer, and steadfast faith.

Fr. Michael also reflected on the message of Our Lady of Fatima, where Mary called the world to conversion, prayer, repentance, and peace. He encouraged families to remain faithful to prayer together, especially through the Rosary and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, allowing Christ to remain at the centre of family life.

The congregation was reminded that Christian joy can coexist with suffering and challenges. Mary’s life teaches perseverance, endurance, and unwavering trust in God even in moments of disappointment, hardship, and uncertainty.

The evening’s Rosary and liturgical ministries were coordinated by the Parish Family Life Ministry. During the offertory, small children together with their parents offered fruits, sweets, and chocolates in a joyful expression of thanksgiving and family participation.

The faithful now prepare to gather for the Parish Feast Day celebrations on 13 May 2026.
