Perjalanan Salib – Day 2: Drawing Life from the Fountain of Living Water
The parish community continued its Perjalanan Salib pilgrimage on the second day by gathering in prayer for the Diocese of Penang and its spiritual and communal goals.
During the Holy Rosary, the faithful prayed for Cardinal Sebastian Francis, together with the clergy, religious and laity of the diocese, asking that they may grow in a deeper relationship with Christ and journey together as the People of God.
The day’s prayer intention focused on deepening the faith of clergy and laity, strengthening small church communities, and fostering a greater care for God’s creation. These aspirations were reflected in the day’s Scripture readings.
In the First Reading from the Book of Jeremiah, God revealed Himself as the Fountain of Living Water, reminding the faithful that true renewal begins with hearts rooted in Christ. The Responsorial Psalm proclaimed, “In you, Lord, is the source of life,” while the Gospel according to St Matthew called believers to receive God’s Word with open and receptive hearts so that it may bear fruit in their lives.
It was encouraging to see many parishioners and friends coming together in prayer, reflecting the unity that lies at the heart of the Perjalanan Salib pilgrimage. As the journey continues, the parish remains united in praying for each diocese throughout Malaysia, asking the Lord to strengthen His Church and guide His people to walk together in faith, hope and love.
