Catechetical Sunday 2026 – Celebrating the Gift of Faith and Those Who Share It

The Church of Our Lady of Fatima will celebrate Catechetical Sunday 2026 on Sunday, 2 August, giving thanks for the dedicated catechists, teachers and volunteers who generously share the Catholic faith with children, young people and adults in our parish.

Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity to recognise that handing on the faith is more than teaching lessons in a classroom. It is a ministry of accompanying others on their journey with Christ, helping them to grow in their understanding of the Gospel and encouraging them to live out their faith each day.

This year’s celebration invites us to give thanks for those who quietly serve in this important ministry. Through their generosity, patience and witness, they help shape future generations of Catholics and nurture a deeper love for God within our parish community.

All parishioners are warmly invited to join us at the Holy Mass celebrations:

As we celebrate Catechetical Sunday, let us also remember in our prayers all catechists, teachers and those who faithfully proclaim the Good News through their words, example and service.
