The Church of Our Lady of Fatima invites all lectors and those interested in deepening their understanding of the Ministry of the Word to a special formation session on Saturday, 26 September 2026.

Sacred Scripture holds a central place in the celebration of the Eucharist. As the General Instruction of the Roman Missal reminds us, when the Scriptures are proclaimed in the liturgy, God himself speaks to his people, and Christ, present in his word, proclaims the Gospel.

This formation session seeks to nurture the spirituality of lectors and deepen their understanding of the responsibility entrusted to those who proclaim the Word of God during the liturgy.

Participants will be encouraged to grow not simply in the practical aspects of proclamation, but also in approaching Sacred Scripture with the reverence, understanding and faithfulness that this ministry requires.

In preparation for the Malaysia Pastoral Convention (MPC) 2026, the Church of Our Lady of Fatima will observe the Day of Fast and Prayer on Friday, 4 September 2026, in response to Archbishop Julian Leow’s call for the faithful to unite in prayer and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Parishioners are invited to gather at OLF for an evening of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament:

6.00pm – Adoration and Holy Hour
Rosary and Benediction
7.30pm – Eucharistic Celebration

The faithful are also encouraged to offer personal acts of fasting and prayer throughout the day for the intentions of the MPC and the Church in Malaysia.

Later that evening, Archbishop Julian Leow will pray before the Blessed Sacrament from 9.00pm to 10.00pm, and the faithful are invited to join him online.

May our shared prayer and fasting open our hearts to the Holy Spirit and strengthen the Church as we prepare for this important ecclesial gathering.

The Archdiocesan Creation Justice Ministry, in collaboration with the OLF Catechetical Ministry, invites students and catechists to participate in an outdoor Sunday Eucharistic celebration at Camp RED, Bukit Tinggi, as part of this year’s Season of Creation.

Observed from 1 September to 4 October, the Season of Creation is a time for Christians to renew their relationship with God and all creation, and to reflect upon our responsibility to care for our common home.

May this time together help our young people encounter God through the beauty of creation and deepen their understanding of our Christian responsibility to care for the earth entrusted to us.

A simple, unexpected encounter at the Church of Our Lady of Fatima on 16 August 2026 became a touching reminder of how God’s grace can be found in ordinary moments.

At about 4.30pm, Fr Andrew Manickam was leaving the parish office with a rosary in hand, intending to spend some time praying in the church. As he stepped outside with a friend, they encountered an elderly couple who had come hoping to join a Rosary prayer.

Fr Andrew soon discovered that the couple were newly baptised Catholics, having received Baptism only in April after beginning their journey into the Catholic faith later in life.

When they expressed concern that they might make mistakes while praying the Rosary, Fr Andrew reassured them that Our Blessed Mother is not concerned with perfection, but with the sincerity and desire to pray.

The three then prayed the Rosary together.

During their conversation afterwards, Fr Andrew encouraged the couple in their continuing journey of faith, reminding them that it is never too late to respond to God’s call: Abraham himself began his journey at the age of 75.

What began as an unplanned meeting became a quiet encounter of faith – a reminder that God often works through seemingly ordinary circumstances, bringing people together at just the right moment.

As Fr Andrew reflected:

“This encounter was a reminder of how God’s grace works through simple moments and genuine faith.”

On 12 August 2026, OLF PIHD extended its community health outreach to the Batang Padang district in Perak, bringing health awareness and medical services to students, parents and teachers from schools in the area.

The outreach was organised in collaboration with the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), SJK(T) Ladang Sungkai and Persatuan Guru Besar SJKT Malaysia, with medical services and support provided by Doctors Beyond Borders and NCSM.

More than 90 students, together with parents and teachers, participated in the programme, bringing the total attendance to approximately 130 people. The outreach involved participants from 10 schools in the surrounding area.

The programme marked the first time a health camp of this nature was conducted in the Batang Padang district, providing an opportunity to bring health awareness and screening closer to local families and school communities.

Through initiatives such as this, OLF PIHD continues to reach beyond the parish community, working alongside partner organisations to serve those in need and promote greater awareness of health and wellbeing.

OLF extends its appreciation to all the organisations, medical personnel, volunteers, schools, teachers, parents and students who contributed towards making the outreach possible.

As we continue our monthly devotion commemorating the apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima, parishioners are invited to gather at OLF on Wednesday, 19 August 2026 for an evening of prayer in honour of Our Blessed Mother.

This month’s devotion recalls the fourth apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, which took place on 19 August 1917.

The evening will include:

6.00pm – Holy Hour
6.30pm – Holy Rosary
7.00pm – Novena to Our Lady of Fatima
7.10pm – Holy Benediction
7.30pm – Holy Mass, followed by a mini procession within the church

The message of Fatima continues to call us to prayer, conversion and a deeper relationship with Jesus.
