Day 2 of the Malaysia Pastoral Convention 2026, on 10 September, began with the Opening Ceremony, as participants from across the country gathered in the hall wearing traditional attire.

Archbishop Emeritus Datuk John Ha led participants in reflecting on the question:

“How shall we decide and act together collectively as a Church of Malaysia?”

He also reflected on the history and journey that led to the planning of the Malaysia Pastoral Convention.

A significant part of the day’s programme was the first round of Conversation in the Spirit. Participants gathered around 94 tables to listen, share and discern together.

The evening programme included Vespers and the celebration of Holy Mass. Delegates later came together for dinner and fellowship, with cultural performances bringing the day’s activities to a close.

As the conversations at MPC 2026 continue, we pray that the Holy Spirit will guide all those gathered in Sibu as they listen to one another and discern together the way forward for the Church in Malaysia.
