The Church of Our Lady of Fatima marked Malaysia’s 69th Independence Day on 31 August 2026 with a morning of prayer, reflection and thanksgiving for the nation.
The celebration began with a Holy Hour dedicated to praying for peace and unity among all Malaysians. This was followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary, seeking the intercession of the Blessed Mother for the country and its people.
During the Eucharistic Celebration, prayers were also offered for His Majesty the King, the leaders of the nation and all Malaysians.
The morning concluded on a joyful note as children came forward to cut the Merdeka cake, symbolising hope for the future and the unity we seek to nurture for generations to come.
As Malaysia celebrates 69 years of independence, we continue to pray that God will bless our nation with peace, understanding and mutual respect among all its people.
