Celebrating Photography as a Witness to God’s Creation
In conjunction with World Photography Day, observed on 19 August, the Church of Our Lady of Fatima invites photographers to receive a special blessing during the 10.30am Mass on Sunday, 23 August 2026.
This year’s World Photography Day theme, “Home”, offers an opportunity to reflect on how photography can help us see more attentively the people, places and moments that surround us.
For Christians, the camera can also become a means of recognising and respecting the dignity of the human person. Every person is created in the image and likeness of God, and photography carries with it a responsibility to portray others with sensitivity, compassion and respect.
Photography can even invite us to pause and ask: What is God inviting me to notice? Through the lens, moments of beauty, suffering, love, hope and everyday life can become occasions for gratitude and reflection.
