New Pews for the Church of Our Lady of Fatima
We pleased to announce the arrival of the first batch of new pews as part of an ongoing replacement project for the parish church.
The decision to replace the existing pews was made following concerns regarding their age, condition, and safety. Over time, many of the pews had become unstable, with some developing loose fittings that posed a risk to parishioners. The new pews will provide a safer and more comfortable environment for worship, while preserving the dignity and reverence of our sacred space.
The first six pews have now been installed, with additional units expected to arrive progressively over the coming weeks. The full installation is anticipated to be completed by the middle of August.
In keeping with the parish’s commitment to responsible stewardship, the timber from the old pews will not be discarded. Instead, portions of the wood will be repurposed into small devotional crosses as keepsakes, ensuring that these long-serving pews continue to hold a place in the life of the parish.
As we receive this gift, parishioners are kindly reminded to help care for the new pews by using them respectfully, particularly the kneelers, and by encouraging children to refrain from marking or damaging them.
The parish extends its gratitude to all who have contributed towards this important improvement. May these new pews continue to serve generations of worshippers who gather to pray, celebrate the Eucharist, and encounter Christ in our parish community
