Novena to Our Lady of Fatima 2026 — Day 5
“Mary — Model of Obedience”
9 May 2026
The fifth day of the Novena reflected on the theme “Mary, Model of Humility”, as parishioners gathered in prayer and devotion during the Holy Hour and Novena Mass. Prayers were especially offered for the elderly — within our families, parish community, hospitals, and homes — asking God to grant them strength, comfort, and peace.
Rev. Fr. Martin Arlando, in his homily, reflected on how the Blessed Virgin Mary teaches the faithful the true meaning of humility. He reminded the congregation that humility is not weakness, but the courage to recognize that all blessings come from God. Drawing from moments such as the Annunciation, the Visitation, and Mary’s steadfast presence at the foot of the Cross, Fr. Martin highlighted Mary’s quiet faith, hidden service, and complete trust in God’s will.
The faithful were encouraged to practise humility in daily life through small acts of service, gentleness in speech, sincerity in prayer, and gratitude for the gifts received from God. Fr. Martin reminded all that when we become small before God, He is able to accomplish great things through us.
A special blessing was also given to all mothers present during the celebration.
The Church of Our Lady of Fatima warmly invites everyone to continue journeying together throughout the Novena and Feast Day celebrations.
